I can't think of any other series that has kept me interested for this long--maybe it's because of multiple writers, but this series is just as energetic and probably even better than when it started. The characters continue to evolve, and the stories are answering some mysteries while creating others. Characters like Chaz and Hafida, always beloved, are more complex and have grown like real people as time has passed in the series.
My only problem with this series is the books don't come fast enough. Well written, good characters, interesting story lines. More please!
I've enjoyed all 13 books in the series so far and I certainly hope there will be more. I recommend this series heartily.
For those who have read the first book ( or books) in this series, Shadow Unit will be like reading about old friends. Unlike many others who write serial stories such as this one, the Shadow Unit authors ( ithey'e a collaborative group) don't spend a lot of time on previous backstory, and knowing backstory is what will make books 2->13 make sense as you work your way through the maze. But, trust me, if you start with books 1 & 2 you will go through the rest of the series to date like putting soft pine through a wood-chipper. And will be pacing in little circles waiting for the NEXT one!!
This series just keeps getting better. I love the characters in these stories and so glad to see a story about Dice. Great book.
At this point I've read all 13 (all that is currently available). The first taste was free, and then I was hooked. If you've got this far, you know it's X-files meets CSI. And it is full of goodness.
Not as dark as some episodes have been, but with a new twist to the 'science' behind the Bug. Characters feel familiar, glad to spend more time with them. The team is starting to feel a little stable again. Maybe lacking some of the tension/complexity of past offerings in the series, or the profound losses along the way, but then again, some of the past offerings in the series were a harrowing read, so a slightly lighter approach (if you can use that idea in this context) is welcome. I'm grateful for the ongoing engagement of the authors within this series, and their willingness to have fun and continue to explore the characters and the world they've created for us.
